Some Guy Name Reks is going at Lu

via HHDX

"But don’t call it a comeback. Reks has been here for years, long enough to feel qualified in this Hip Hop sport to criticize a “Superstar” in the game on the bonus track from Grey Hairs, “Pray For Me” Click here to listen “How can Lupe complain/When his fiasco at a rap show to honor rap greats is to blame/For rap music dying in a box…”

“I mean, everybody’s held accountable,” replied Reks when asked about the above verse. “I question myself and my motives and my decisions all the time. So every man is to be held accountable… Lupe is an amazing artist, but at the same time that disrespect that was shown, I don’t appreciate it. And I’m gonna take homie to task for it.”

“He don’t care anyway,” he added. “[Laughs] Lupe ain’t thinking about me.”"

Atleast he knows that Lu aint thinking about him...I have no idea who this guy is so if anyone on here does then please school us lol

I think he summed it up.."lupe doesnt care about me." So obviously hes no one to even acknowledge..

sorry misquoted the quote..."lupe aint thinkin about me"...yet and still who ever this guy is he is irrelevant...

haha who cares about this guy. I think people take the Tribe thing to seriously. I've never bought/downloaded/heard a whole Tribe album either...It's not a big deal. To be honest (and let the hating commence) Q-Tip's voice makes my ears hurt. It's so nasally and annoying. He's a great artist but I can't stand his voice. It's hard to listen to him, at least for me.

Reks is actually a great artist. I had the honor of being featured on a compilation with him back in 2008 called Zero Element: The Reclaimation Project (Google It). He has an old school feel with gritty lyricism. Truthfully, anyone mentioning the Hip Hop Honors thing is pretty stupid though. I always hated the fact that Lupe forget a couple words made millions of people mad. I mean, WTFlip. SO WHAT!? They act like it was the end of the world or something. I think people just use that to show hate because they don't want to embrace the greatness of Lu's talent. Well...sucks for them. Anyways, I disagree with Reks reasoning for saying the line, but hey, to each his own.

@head4:

Why does it matter if I've never heard a whole Tribe album. See how defensive people get about Tribe, get off their dicks. Yeah they're a great group, but I just never got into them.

To understand why so many people were disappointed/upset with Lupe after the hip-hop honors you have to realize that these people have been and are fans of the genre of hip-hop. They were born and raised on hip-hop. Imagine if Green Day messed up at a Ramones tribute, at which the Ramones were in attendance, and then Green Day responded by pretty harshly when confronted about the misstep. It gone blown way out of proportion, yes, but the main point is Lupe was at a venue paying tribute to his predecessors who pioneered the music that he is aesthetically similar to, which can easily be interpreted as disrespectful. Artists like Reks and Joe Budden; who live, eat, breathe hip-hop want other hip-hop fans to acknowledge that this was disrespectful and shouldn't be brushed off. But I don't think it should have exploded to the scale it did, although Lupe really didn't help with that.

Sorry for the long winded response, had to put that out there.

^^^ Joe Budden's a loser.

I don't think he "lives, eats, or breathes hip-hop". I don't think he knows much about it at all.

Joe Budden said that LL Cool J is a better MC than Rakim just based on skill. What the hell is that nigga smokin? He also said LL is better than KRS. WTF is wrong with him. I lost all respect for him when he said that shit.
Sorry that was OT.

Listen to Joe Budden's "Who Killed Hip Hop" part 1-3 and tell me he's not a student of hip hop

REKS > Lupe
Lupe got a long way to go before he can be compared to Reks. and imo he'll never get that far. and all of you saying reks is a nobody and "shouldnt be acknowledged", if you aint never listened to him then you have no room to say that. go listen to "Along Came The Chosen", any song on that album shits on anything lupe has every recorded. now im not saying lupe isnt good, im just saying lyrically he cant touch reks...
