I think its selfish for people to think everyone has to have the same emotions about the same thing all of the time.
Many have labeled this interview controversial because Lupe said Obama's speech didn't move him. I don't think people needed a speech to be moved, the achievement was "moving" enough given the historical background of the United States and what all oppressed people have gone through, because at some point in time every one has been oppressed. And feelings are relative to each individual.
People can say what they want want about Jesse Jackson's extramarital affairs and what not, but he fought damned hard and made many sacrifices to help keep the civil rights movement afloat. Jesse Jackson has seen and fought against so many injustices, so for him fighting so hard and actually realizing his dreams is huge and definitely touching.
Jesse cant help his celebrity status. I wanted to be there as well, and if i was there the camera would be on me because I'm not a celebrity and wouldn't be excused up trying to stay in the spotlight. The tv organizations came to him while he wanted to witness this historic moment.
I thought the speech was on point and he addressed the issues people needed to hear instead of sugar coating things and getting lost in the moment (though he did recognize the significance). He's going to be our president, he has to stick to an agenda at the end of the day.
Notiq I agree. I can say too that I wasn't moved by the 'speech' I agreed with it but it didn't make me cry. I cried way after what was on tv when my mother and father (baby boomers) talked about their life as a child during civl rights. That's what made me cry about Obama's presidency. AND LUPE IS RIGHT Blacks need to change. No more excuses. The Obama card trumps the race card.
I don't want Jesse Jackson to represent me. Not the Jesse Jackson of late anyway. He is too concerned with trivial matters, such as the N word. People are starving. I will admit that I am a victim of the media, but I want to know what Jesse Jackson is doing when the cameras aren't there. How hard is fighting then?...
Obama's speech TO ME, wasn't extremely moving either. It was aight. I think I expected a more grandiose approach. It almost seemed to me that he was just trying to soak up the moment for himself. Nothin too fancy or extravagant, which really doesn't do much for TV purposes, but for him, Im sure it was an unbelieveable night.
i only listened to half of the speech and honestly just him being elected was moving enough.Hell ive never heard any of Malcolm X's speeches and he still is an important person to my history. Why is everybody's panties ina bunch?lol
and y are ppl callin Kaycee a bitch?! this confuses me.lol
